William A. Kirby Jr.

William A. Kirby Jr., aka "Abe Lincoln" passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born January 13, 1947, in Arlington, VA, to William A. & Alice V. Kirby. Following graduation from Washington-Lee High School, Arlington, VA in 1966 Bill joined the US Marine Corp where he served in the motor transport division in Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in 1972. He then went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1977 the Kirby family moved to Brush. The family owned & operated the former Honey Bun Bakery in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Bill loved working on the railroad. He had a magnificent model train collection. He enjoyed working in his yard & garden. His favorite time was spent with his children and his brothers. He enjoyed visiting and going to coffee with Delbert Henry and Carl Stitt. He also enjoyed his 1959 Edsel. Survivors include his children, Abraham of Rexford, KS, Marcus, and his wife Heather of Arab, AL, and Pamela Kirby, and her husband Julio Guevara Jr. of Brush; 2 brothers, Dennis (Brenda) of Gilbert, AZ and Mark (Terry) of Fairfax, VA; 7 grandchildren, Jacklynn, Holly, Dwayne, Marshall, Breanna, Hayle, and Brandie; an uncle & aunt, Harper & Faye Kirby of Manassas, VA and his former wife, Judy Kirby of Brush. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 AM. at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. The service will conclude at the Mortuary. Inurnment with military honors will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM.
