Richard Irving Covington Richard Irving Covington, 65, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his residence. Born May 28, 1948, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Wilburn Irving Covington and Carolina Virginia Carter Covington. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Carter, Gary and Philip Covington. He is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Covington of Madison; two daughters, Kathleen Covington Derrick and husband, Paul, of Harrisonburg, and Ruth Anne Covington Cristman-Pardue and husband, Joey, of Advance, North Carolina; one son, Matthew Scott Covington and wife, Angie, of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Anna Carol Derrick, Elijah Derrick, Ethan Covington, Alex Covington, Robert Cristman III, and Sloane Pardue. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday September 23, 2013, at Hebron Lutheran Church conducted by Bishop James Mauney. The interment will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 22, 2013, from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hebron Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1009, Madison, VA 22727.
