Midsummer Ball Description

Wizarding Academy 2015

House Project: Designing the Midsummer's Birthday Ball

Welcome to this year's Wizarding Academy! As we do every year, we will be working on a house project that will be an important part of earning the House Cup. This year, like the Yule Ball in Goblet of Fire, each house will design and propose a "Midsummer's Birthday Ball" for Harry Potter. The winning team's design will take place on a separate event on Friday, July 31 in 'Hogwarts' on campus (separate tickets to this even will be available the last day of camp).

What does this mean that your House needs to work on during our "transfiguration" time this week? What kinds of lessons will we be having?

First, your group will need to develop a theme and title for your proposed ball. You'll want something general enough to give a lot of options for your other elements! So get started by brainstorming with your group. We'll have a special guest joining us for a lesson on creativity.

You'll also need to come up with ideas for a color scheme, a musical play list, a menu, and ideas for decorations. We'll have a guest lecture on menu planning, as well as on creating a budget for your proposal.

*Optional items to include

● Poster (to advertise your event)

● Ticket design (Both tickets and poster must incorporate your theme as they will likely serve as invitations)

● Dress code

● A signature Wizarding dance

Last, each House will have a trifold poster board to display their ideas on, in House colors. You will present your idea for the Midsummer Ball to friends and family at the Farewell Feast.
