2008 Muggle Academy

Overview and Publicity Flyer:

Join us at our first ever Muggle Academy and explore different contexts for thinking about the Harry Potter series—through myth, literature, folklore, language, identity, history, and film. You’ll also work on an interdisciplinary and collaborative project designing your own shop for Diagon Alley.

Come experience "Herbology," "the History of Magic," and "Transfiguration," along with Harry Potter on film, Harry Potter trivia, and a Triwizard "Tournament." All campers will be "sorted" into their house as preparation for a week of thinking, talking, reading, film-watching, building, and fun!

Heads of House and Co-Directors: Camp directors Karley Adney, Assistant Professor of English and Holly Hassel, Assistant Professor of English and Women's Studies and co-authors of the forthcoming Critical Companion to J.K. Rowling volume, bring years of teaching experience, a love of literature, and a passion for all things Harry Potter to the classroom. Contact them at karley.adney@uwc.edu or holly.hassel@uwc.edu or visit http://muggleacademy.wikispaces.com/ for more information.
