Creation of Max Kirby Way
Our late President, Max Kirby, did so much for the Society and for Footpaths and Open Spaces in the area generally,
that the committee wanted the Society to remember him appropriately.
What better way, then, than by creating a new piece of path and naming it after him.
Even better, it’s a section of path which improves access for all.
Max Kirby Way links the overspill car park at Thurstaston Visitor Centre with the Wirral Way
– replacing a rather overgrown bank and removing the need to cross Station Road.
The new path is fully accessible for wheelchairs, prams, scooters, bikes, etc. It thus truly opens up access to the Wirral Way
– something that the Committee felt Max would wholly approve of.
There will be a sign in memory of Max. At the time of writing (end of January), the path has only just been completed,
so the sign may take a little longer. That doesn’t stop you going along to have a look at the new path and using it.
Enjoy it and think of Max!
