I received my Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Chicago under the supervision of Prof. Susan Goldin-Meadow. Before that, I worked with Prof. Twila Tardif at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Soon after getting my Ph.D., I worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the National University of Singapore. Now I am working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. My research interest lies in gesture development in both typical and atypical developing children, the role of gesture in facilitating learning, and individual variations in gesture production and comprehension.

Current projects in my lab:

1) The role of gesture in facilitating language and cognitive processes

2) Semantic and syntactic structure of gestures in speakers from different language backgrounds

2) Gesture development among children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

3) Ways to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorders to recognize and produce gestures using social robots
