We’re excited to announce our very first Card-a-Thon, happening from April 21-25! During the week of Serve-a-thon, students will create greeting cards to be shared with seniors residing in retirement homes. We're partnering with an organization called Brighten A Day in order to make this community service project a success!
Starting now, you can support this event by participating in our donation drive. Your generous contribution to our fundraiser helps empower students to become active, engaged members of their community and supports their involvement in meaningful community service projects.
Set up your student's fundraising page by following the instructions here:
https://app.99pledges.com/fund/2025WLcards/addme
Once you've set up the account, you will receive an email with a links to upload a profile photo and share with family and friends. You will still be able to collect donations of cash and checks using the yellow envelopes available in the front office. Cash and checks can be added to your student's 99pledges online account if you'd like to track everything in one place!
If you have any issues with setting up your child's account, email us at wmlandpta@gmail.com.
Our Card-a-Thon will be offering some amazing prizes, and the competition is on! Each grade will compete to see who can raise the most, but here’s the twist: winners will be determined by the average amount fundraised per student to keep it fair across grades with different class sizes. This means every single student's efforts matter! Whether your grade has a few students or a lot, you have a shot at winning the top prizes. THE TOP 3 GRADES WILL VOTE BY GRADE FOR ONE OF THESE PRIZES:

Card-a-Thon is a special event that blends community service with fundraising. From April 21-25, students will create heartfelt greeting cards in their classrooms to bring joy to local seniors. At the same time, we’re inviting parents to take part in a donation drive to support the school PTA. This event not only raises funds for our school but also teaches kids the value of kindness, generosity, and community involvement.
A small portion of the proceeds will go towards materials for making cards as well as the prizes for the winning classes while the majority of donations will go to the PTA general fund. Some of the remaining expenses we have for the year include field trips, Water Day, our AR luncheon and Field Day.
Start early - Everyone is so busy these days! Give your friends and family a bit of time to donate by sending out your emails early.
Leverage social media - If you're comfortable, share the link and a personal message from your student on your social media.
Follow Up - After sending the initial ask, it’s okay to send a friendly reminder closer to the event date. Sometimes people need a little nudge to contribute.
Encourage Participation - Let donors know that every donation counts, no matter the size. This takes the pressure off and encourages more people to give, even in small amounts.
Update Your Fundraising Goal - If you've already reached your fundraising goal, but have friends and family that have not yet donated. Update your child's fundraising goal on the website! Every dollar counts!
Thank Donors - A quick thank-you note from your child or a follow-up message to donors can go a long way. It shows appreciation and helps build support for future events!
We will have envelopes in the front office for you to use. You can give the envelope to your child's teacher or leave the envelope with Ms. Paula or Ms. Angela. Ensure that the envelope is labeled with your child's name, teacher and total donation amount.
That's no problem. You can go to the school donation page and donate directly to your child's grade so that it's counted towards our fundraising competition. Go to https://app.99pledges.com/fund/2025WLcards and in the "search for participant" box, enter your child's grade level (TK Class, Kindergarten, 1st grade etc).
While teachers will be working with the students to make cards, we'll be looking for volunteers to organize the classroom prize parties. If you're interested in volunteering, please email us at wmlandpta@gmail.com.
