Mark your calendars for November 14 as we kick off this exciting event. This year, we're taking the Trot-a-Thon online for the very first time! Now, it's easier than ever to participate and support our school by sharing the fundraising link with friends and family near and far.
Get ready for some friendly competition, as each grade will be racing to see who can raise the most.
In addition to the fun and excitement of the Fall Trot-a-Thon, we invite everyone to bring canned or boxed food items on the day of the event for our Canned Food Drive. All donations will go to My Sister's House to support those in need during the holiday season.
Let’s make this the best Trot-a-Thon yet—together!
Set up your student's fundraising page by following the instructions here:
https://app.99pledges.com/fund/2024WLtrot/addme
Once you've set up the account, you will receive an email with a links to upload a profile photo and share with family and friends. You will still be able to collect donations of cash and checks using the yellow envelope provided to your student. Cash and checks can be added to your student's 99pledges online account if you'd like to track everything in one place!
If you have any issues with setting up your child's account, email us at wmlandpta@gmail.com.
Our Trot-a-Thon will be offering some amazing prizes, and the competition is on! Each grade will compete to see who can raise the most, but here’s the twist: winners will be determined by the average amount fundraised per student to keep it fair across grades with different class sizes. This means every single student's efforts matter! Whether your grade has a few students or a lot, you have a shot at winning the top prizes. Get ready to run, raise, and win some huge rewards!
Our Trot-a-Thon is all about running for fun and fundraising for a cause! Here's how it works: instead of raising money per lap, students collect donations ahead of time from family and friends. These donations are a flat amount, meaning donors can contribute whatever they like without worrying about how many laps are run. On the big day, students will run as many laps as they can, while volunteers cheer them on and count their progress. The focus is on participation, school spirit, and raising as much as possible to support our programs!
A portion of the Trot-a-thon proceeds goes towards purchasing playground and PE equipment. The remaining amount goes towards the PTA general fund which is used for field trips, Teacher Appreciation Week, AR prizes and more!
9:10-9:40 Lee, Go, Mora, Tri, Huang
9:45-10:15 Liu, Lieu, Tek, Yu
10:15-10:45 Ruiz, Wang, Babella, Hodge, Vang, Xie
Yes of course! We encourage you to come cheer on your child and their class even if you can't volunteer. Simply meet us on the blacktop and get ready for the fun!
Upload a special photo of your child - Friends and family love seeing photos of your student. A fun shot of your child in a victorious pose or dressed for the run is sure to bring a smile to those close to you.
Start early - Everyone is so busy these days! Give your friends and family a bit of time to donate by sending out your emails early.
Leverage social media - If you're comfortable, share the link and a personal message from your student on your social media.
Follow Up - After sending the initial ask, it’s okay to send a friendly reminder closer to the event date. Sometimes people need a little nudge to contribute.
Encourage Participation - Let donors know that every donation counts, no matter the size. This takes the pressure off and encourages more people to give, even in small amounts.
Thank Donors - A quick thank-you note from your child or a follow-up message to donors can go a long way. It shows appreciation and helps build support for future events!
That's no problem. Students will be sent home with a manilla envelope to be used for collecting cash and check donations. Simply return the envelope with your child's donations on November 14th. Whether you collect donations physically or online, all donations will count towards the prize competition.
Students should wear comfortable clothes, sneakers and a hat for the Trot-a-thon. Be sure to put sunscreen on in the morning and send your child with a water bottle.
