FES should be completed during the second, third or fourth year of residency.
How to complete Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) and the Fundamentals of Endoscopy Curriculum (FEC):
FES:
- Sign up for an account with Lilly and on the FES website <https://www.webassessor.com/sages_fes/> and schedule your testing date at OSU.
- Work through the online didactic content <https://www.fesdidactic.org/ >
- Practice upper and lower endoscopy on the endoscopic trainer until you feel comfortable. The exact testing exercises are not released, but an example of them can be viewed in the middle of this long YouTube video
- Take your written and practical test to obtain your certificate - send a copy of this to Lilly for your file.
FEC:
- Review the educational material provided in the FEC and Mount Carmel Curriculum PDFs below as you progress through residency.
- Fill out and submit GAGE forms after performing an EGD or colonoscopy:
- Complete 5 GAGE forms for EGDs during your GI rotation.
- Complete 5 GAGE forms for Colonoscopies during each of your colorectal rotations
- Complete 5 GAGE forms for EGD and 5 GAGE forms for colonoscopy during your chief year with a minimum score of 18
