Wheeling Lodge #9 held its annual Christmas party on Sunday afternoon, with 56 in attendance. This year’s Christmas Party was extra special this year, as it was held on the actual 175th anniversary of the founding of our Lodge. It was a great time with good food and Fellowship. All the kids in attendance received a gift from the Lodge, and much fun was had with the drawing of the gift exchange tickets and door prizes. Mary Jo Wallace was presented with the Odd Fellows Meritorious Service Jewel. This award is the highest honor an Odd Fellow can receive, and the Lodge members nominated Mary Jo without her knowledge, and she was quite surprised. This was quite a feat, as the Meritorious Service Jewel must be requested from the Grand Lodge of West Virginia, and with Mary Jo being our elected Lodge Representative to the Grand Lodge, a little bit of work was needed to keep it a surprise. The Lodge would like to thank Mike Duminiak, Grand Secretary and the Grand Lodge of WV Meritorious Service Jewel committee for helping us keep this secret and allowing us to surprise Sister Mary Jo with this honor at her home Lodge with her Brothers and Sisters here in Wheeling.
