Pangbourne

Pangbourne is a village in the county of Berkshire. It is located on the Thames and has been a strategic crossing point of the Thames for a long time. The village has literary connections to authors like Jerome K Jerome, DH Lawrence and Kenneth Grahame (Visitthames.co.uk).

Pangbourne looks beautiful and has a lot to offer. The water meadows of the village are perfect for picnics or a stroll and it is also the site of the annual village fete. Said fete has a dancing competition and a so-called “Dragon Boat event” among other things. Furthermore, there is the Swan, an old building from the 17th century (Visitthames.co.uk).

In “Afterward”, Pangbourne is the place where Edward and Mary Boyne meet their friend, Alida Stair, to talk to her about the house they want to buy (Wharton 342).
