Spain (The Long Run)

After Paulina told Halston Merrick that she is going to leave New York together with her husband Philip, she murmurs something about meeting again in Spain (Wharton 312).

Spain occupies about 80 percent of the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, while Spain borders France and Andorra in the north and the Pyrenees from the natural border (S.L. Spanien). The capital of Spain is Madrid.

The Balearic Islands Mallorca, Ibiza, and Menorca, located in the Mediterranean Sea, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Morocco, as well as the cities of Ceuta and Melilla in North Africa belong to the Spanish territory (S.L. Spanien).

Spain is the third largest country in Europe in terms of area and the fifth largest in terms of population (S.L. Spanien). Five gib mountain ranges cross Spain, about 50 percent of the country lies on a high plateau (S.L. Spanien).
