The West Finchley Residents' Association is served by a small committee of volunteers elected at the Annual General Meeting or co-opted onto the Committee throughout the year. The Committee meets six to eight times each year to organise social events for residents, consider planning applications that affect the area, make representations to Barnet Council as necessary and generally act as a voice for residents in local matters.
The current Committee is:
Salim Sabri, Chair (Courthouse Gardens)
Marilyn Lee, Secretary (Courthouse Gardens)
Shanaka Katuwawala (Nether Street)
Penny Igoe (Brent Way)
Sheila Shannon (Brent Way)
George Karaolis (Finchley Way)
Reema Patel (Courthouse Gardens)
The West Finchley Residents’ Association has grown because neighbours wish to work together concerning planning, improving the local environment and to bring people together, creating opportunities for local residents to meet one another in a social setting.
We work in collaboration with the local MP, the Ward Councillors, The Finchley Society and other civic groups. We are also looking engage more with the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood team regarding burglaries and anti-social behabiour in the area.
All of our activities are powered by volunteers, and we’re always on the lookout for new people to help drive the Residents' Association forward. Whether you're interested in organising events, reviewing planning applications, writing a newsletter, taking minutes, maintaining our website, or driving a new initiative forward, we’d love to hear from you!
