Reservoir Cleaning Notice and flushing
The reservoir will be cleaned around the second Thursday of November. In preparation, the wells will be turned off in advance and the community is requested to use water normally (not excessively) through Thursday morning at 9 am. Please do not use any water during Thursday until about 6 pm (maybe later) to allow us to refill the reservoir to a point where the pumps can be primed. Please also conserve water over Thursday night, when the reservoir will still be re-filling. If you are concerned about water usage during the day, please fill containers or bathtubs so that you will have sufficient water available during this time.
The system will be on well by-pass during the day, so water will be available to keep the mains pressurized (not for domestic use) and for us to clean the tank – the supply is limited. So please do not use any water between the above noted hours. If water is used during the day, it is likely that the mains could run dry. This will delay the reservoir being put back into service and stir up any sediment that may be in the lines – this will cause a severe dirty water problem when the pumps are turned back on, and is a contamination risk.
Despite the above precaution, there may still be some sediment stirred up in the lines – before using any water in your home, turn on an outside faucet and allow it to run for several minutes, or until the water cleans up. We will disinfect the reservoir with chlorine. Check that you do not smell any strong odors of chlorine in the water; some minor smell may still linger and is nothing to worry about. It should fully clear up within the week.
In addition, the system will be flushed on the third Thursday of November. Please look out for the King Water service technician and do not use any water during the flushing as you are likely to pull the dirty water into your home.
Thank you for your forbearance during this time. Our goal is to provide you with water of the best possible quality at all times, we are sorry for any inconvenience that this cleaning may cause. If you have any questions, please call King Water/NWNWS at 360-678-5336.
Sincerely,
