WNAF and EAC CPF

As the project team for the Western Name Authority File explored a variety of options, EAC-CPF was the schema that was the most closely aligned with the long-term goals of the project.

    • The majority of the partners who contributed names to WNAF are working with digitized special collections
    • EAC-CPF entities can have a variety of attributes that describe both personal characteristics, and the special collections materials related to those entities.
    • The Social Networks and Archival Context (SNAC) project provided an example for how large scale discovery for people and connections associated with special collections can be visualized

For a basic WNAF record, we were not planning on implementing the full EAC-CPF schema, but a selection of the tags used in our OmekaS resource template, along with some dcterms elements are:
