I grew up in northwestern North Carolina and obtained my B.S. in Biochemistry from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC in 1999. From there, I spent the next six years of my life in Nashville, TN, doing my graduate research in the laboratory of Larry Marnett. In 2005, I moved Evanston, IL to do postdoctoral work with Rick Morimoto. I accepted a position in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at The College of Wooster in 2008, where I teach courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and study cellular responses to molecules that react with cysteine residues in proteins.
