About Us

The Weavers Guild South welcomes individuals with various levels of weaving interests and skills. Its purpose is to create a supportive environment to nurture creativity and individuality. We bring together people interested in sharing an appreciation of fiber arts and provide a forum that demonstrates the versatility of fibers.

The Guild offers quality workshops and programs in weaving, spinning and such related areas as basketry, felting, dyeing and off-loom weaving, providing hands-on experience and exposure to the multiple facets of this extensive field. These presentations utilize the expertise of the Guild members, as well as professionals in the field. The Guild also promotes fiber arts through its involvement in community education activities.

Other benefits include a Guild library of weaving magazines, books, videos, rental looms, cooperative purchasing of yarns, books, materials and a resource for private buyers and sellers of weaving equipment and supplies.

Meetings are usually held the third Saturday, September through June, at 1 p.m. in the Matteson Public Library. (801 School Ave., Matteson, IL 60443)

Dues are $20 per year which includes our monthly newsletter, The Shuttle. There will be an additional fees for some of the workshops presented each year.
