About Pack 3953

Pack 3953 is part of the Downs United Methodist Church, which is our Chartering Organization.

Charter organizations include schools, parent associations, service clubs, religious groups, and other groups interested in youth. The charter organization approves leaders, provides a meeting place, and operates packs within the guidelines and policies of the charter organization and the Boy Scouts of America. They also select a chartered organization representative who serves as a liaison between the pack and that organization.

See what annual event calendar looks like, or check out our monthly activities below.

Committee Meetings (typically 2nd Thursday of the month @ 6:00pm)

The pack committee is made up of den leaders and assistants, our Boy Scout representative, and the Cubmaster and assistants. Most of these leaders are parents of kids in the pack. The committee meets once a month - typically the first Sunday afternoon. The committee plans pack meetings, performs record keeping, manages pack finances, orders badges, maintains pack equipment, discusses future events, and helps train and recognize leaders.

Cub Scout Pack Meetings (typically 3rd Thursday of the month @ 6:00pm)

The monthly pack meeting brings together kids from every den, their leaders, and their families, to participate in a large-scale event that serves as a showcase for everything the scouts have learned and done in their individual den meetings. The pack meetings give the boys and girls a larger experience beyond their own den, and helps them to connect their individual activities to the entire Cub Scouting Program. This is typically the third Thursday of the month but be sure to check the calendar.

Cub Scout Den Meetings (Determined by Den Leaders)

A den is a group of six to eight youth within the pack, that meets one or more times a month between pack meetings. The scouts in a den are usually all at the same grade level. The den structure allows kids to build relationships with leaders and each other. The den provides opportunities for activities that would be difficult with a large group. The den also provides leadership opportunities for the boys and girls.
