A Message from Our President
Dear Colleagues,
The past two years have been a challenge for all of us, personally and professionally. Changes to legislation and report card accountability, along with the pandemic have illuminated the challenging work that needs to be done moving forward.
In the wake of the pandemic, we realize that in order to stay a vibrant and relevant organization that best supports you in your advocacy work for gifted children, you need to be supported in the exploration of new strategies and delivery methods and in ways that may look different than what we’ve been able to provide in the past. That is why we will continue to generate professional development, networking and collaboration opportunities throughout the year that aim to do just that.
As we plan for the 2022-23 school year and beyond, our goal is to make our presence more visible outside of our regular meetings. We will use social media and other communication mediums to stay connected and keep the best and most relevant information at your fingertips. We encourage you to stay engaged with us, and invite others to do the same.
WCOAGC has a long history of leadership in supporting the needs of gifted students, their parents, teachers, and administrators at the local, regional, state, and national levels. And we plan to pivot forward to remain as such. However, we need your help in doing so through your voice and your presence in the work! Please consider renewing your membership this year and encourage others on your teams, schools, districts, and networks to do the same. Visit our "Membership Page" to renew or register for the first time, as well as learn what it means to be a member of the WCOAGC! Much more information is to come very soon!
Yours in education,
Angela Fugate, President
Elected Staff and Planning Committee
