We will be holding the 2017 Family Outdoor Day event on Saturday August 26th from 9 am to 4 pm for more information follow us on Facebook the event name "Wayne Area Family Outdoor Day". There will be numerous stations for the whole family to enjoy. Stations are presented by area Professors and Professionals in there respective areas.
Regular meetings are typically held the first Monday of each month. Follow us on Facebook "Wayne Izaak Walton League" for regular announcements of date, time, and location.

Celebrate Open Gate Day at Ike's Lake
The Wayne Izaak Walton League will host Open Gate Day in conjunction with the Nebraska Free Fishing Day on Saturday, May 21, 2016! All are welcome to attend. Open gate day coincides with the State of Nebraska FREE fishing/park entry day. No fishing license is needed during that day.
Ike's Youth Outdoor Education Program Grows to Family Outdoor Day
The Wayne Izaak Walton League in partnership with the Pheasants Forever will be hosting a Family Outdoor Day. The date tentatively is set for August 27th.

The Wayne Izaak Walton League is planning to host its annual Fishing Derby.
Date: is Fathers day weekend Saturday, June 18th with the 19th as a rainout date
Registration will take place from 9-9:30 a.m., Fishing will be held from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. Tallies from 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded from 11:30-12:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend! If rained out Sundays event will start at 1:00 p.m.
The Wayne Izaak Walton League hosted its second Youth Outdoor Day of the year on Tuesday, August 6 2013 at Ike's Lake.
Twelve youth participated in the event, and were divided into groups to visit various learning stations. Dr. Ron Loggins covered the animal station, looking at various small mammal skins and bones, and bird watching. Dr. Mark Hammer taught the youth about plants, took a nature hike, and discussed various species of plants along the trail. Dr. Barbara Hayford covered aquatic bio-diversity, looking at micro-invertebrates and water quality. Several college students did soil experiments with the kids, teaching them about soil texture and making wild flower mud balls. Lastly, Scott Brummond lead a casting exercise, helping the youth learn how to cast and playing a fishing game.
The day concluded with a hotdog lunch. Thanks to all the youth who participated and all of the volunteers who made the event a success!

National Hunting and Fishing Day: Saturday, September 28, 2013
National Hunting and Fishing Day events provide opportunities for people across the country to learn more about outdoor skills and conservation, frequently through hands-on activities related to hunting, shooting, fishing, archery, and more. This grassroots campaign promotes the traditions of hunting and angling and the many conservation benefits they provide for all Americans.

The Wayne Izaak Walton League will hold its monthly meeting at 5:10 p.m. on Monday, August 5. The meeting location will be announced at a later date.
Izaak Walton League to Host Youth Outdoor Day
The Wayne Izaak Walton League has scheduled its second Youth Outdoor Day this year for Tuesday, August 6. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Ike's Like, and the activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. Be sure to register in advance to save a spot!

The Wayne Izaak Walton League will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10 at Ike's Lake.
Wayne Izaak Walton League holds Fishing Derby at Ike's Lake
The Wayne Izaak Walton League hosted its annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 15 at Ike's Lake. Around 38 children participated in the Fishing Derby, along with many excited friends and parents, making total attendance close to 50 people.
Prizes were awarded for fish caught, and additional prizes were given for the casting competition.
Thanks to all who participated and volunteered to make the Fishing Derby a success!

Wayne Izaak Walton League hosts Nature Day
The Wayne Izaak Walton League hosted a Nature Day for youth on Saturday, June 8 at Ike's Lake. Over 20 children ages 3 to 11 participated in the day to learn about the water, mammals, trees, and birds at the lake.
Nature Day began with registration at 8 a.m. and a welcome by Chapter President Erin Eilers. The children divided into groups and went to four stations throughout the morning. Stations included trees, water, mammals, and birds. Participants received crafts they created with leaves, a homemade bird feeder, and experience interacting with birds and mammals and fishing.
Thanks to all of the parents who helped with the camp as well as the instructors who led the stations at Ike's Lake.
