Prospective Members

We are always on the look out for new members, both experienced bowlers or people who are new to the game. Everyone is welcome to come and have a look around our facilities and try them out for free for a few sessions.

Flat soled shoes must be worn on the playing surface, but if you do not have any we can lend you a pair if new to the game. We also have several sets of bowls which you can use whilst learning the game.

Prospective members can contact the club by phone or email to arrange a time for a guided tour, or simply come to the club and ring the doorbell at a time when we are open and we will make you welcome.

Coaching

Coaching for new members is provided by an experienced club member, at no charge, at 4:15pm on Fridays, October to March or other times by arrangement.

Playing Opportunities

Playing opportunities for the typical club member include roll-ups, team leagues, individual and team knockout competitions plus friendlies against other clubs. These matches are available to all members and are not based on playing ability.

For new members the weekday roll-ups are a great way to get to know other members and to hone skills in a friendly environment. You don't need to pre-book a roll-up session; just sign in at least 15 minutes before start of play and the club steward will allocate you to a game.

Some experienced members participate in regional and national competitions however there are plenty of playing opportunities for players who remain club based.

From September to April the club is open 7 days a week. From May to August about 70% of members play at local outdoor clubs so the club is open for four sessions each week for those who prefer to bowl indoors year round.
