After ten years in the planning, Watford Indoor Bowls Club finally opened its doors in February 1991. The membership quickly grew to 800, which was slightly too many for comfort. It has now settled down to a number which allows everyone plenty of time on the rink.
The club is affiliated to The English Indoor Bowling Association and is operated as a non-profit private members club, managed by a committee of elected member volunteers.
For as long as it lasted, our bowlers regularly won the Inter County League Trophy in a play off against Essex and we have achieved many other individual and team successes at County level. We have been runners-up in the national Top Club Competition and have had players represent England in friendlies and also at The World Youth Games.
