One fun extra-curricular available at WAO is Knowledge Bowl.
WAO has two team levels: Junior High (7-9) and Senior High (9-12).
Knowledge Bowl is a team academic competition that encourages teamwork, collaboration, effective communication and strategic thinking. Students work together to solve oral and written round questions related to all areas of learning typical of elementary or
secondary educational programs.
Senior High:
Teams consist of four (5) members, including an alternate
Last year WAO traveled with four teams! We’d love to add more!
Practices begin in mid-October and are held during senior high lunch (never practice after or before school)
Typical competition season runs from January through March
Competitions are held in Crookston or Thief River
Competitions are held during the school day (leave at 8:30a and return by 3:00p)
School transportation provided
Students earn a letter award! (attendance requirements at practice & meets)
State Meet is held in April, for those who qualify.
Junior High:
competitions are after school at local area schools
school transportation provided
Depart school @ 3:00p and return approximately 6:30p
