Summer Conditioning Opportunity
Please note: these are not official "out of season practices" for either XC or Indoor / Outdoor Track. These are an informal way for community members, families, runners, walkers, kids, adults, and pets to come together to have fun and increase fitness.
Join us this summer for conditioning and strength / flexibility in preparation for the fall sports season! Coach Katie Pugh will be overseeing the program this summer with help from graduated runners, parents, and team captains. This is an excellent way to get in your long runs, increase your flexibility and core strength, and get ready for the fall season. Please reach out to katiexc@gmail.com and / or call / text Coach Katie (434) 466-1469 at any point if you have any questions. These practices are not required to be on any team in the fall. However, Cross Country is won or lost in the summer, so your best chance at a successful season is to attend as many meet-ups as possible.
Participation Requirements
The program is free this year. However, if you would like to donate to the Crozet Crew group, please use the Venmo @crozetcrew2026. We can use the money for so many wonderful things throughout the summer and fall: Tuesday Treat Day, offsetting apparel costs, team craft days, prizes, etc. Please help out if you can!

Coaches' / Helpers' Information
Coach Katie Pugh: Katie has been coaching XC at WAHS since 2005, and is also a former WAHS distance runner. You can reach her at (434) 466-1469 and katiexc@gmail.com
Emerson Ritter: Emerson was a top varsity runner and team captain for WAHS XC / Track and holds numerous school records.
Abbie Apicella: Abbie ran with our program for 6 years and was a team captain for XC/ Indoor and Outdoor Track this year. She will be running at Covenant College in the fall.
Schedule
The VHSL "Dead Period" is from 6/22-7/3, during which time fall sports are not to have official practices. As these group meet-ups are NOT out-of-season practices, we can continue to come together.
We will be meeting 3 mornings a week at 7am for 9 weeks, from June 9- August 2. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesdays: "Ridge Road" (the intersection of Ridge Road and Garth Rd.)
Thursdays: Crozet Park (meet under the 2nd Pavilion). BRING A YOGA MAT OR TOWEL for abs and band exercsises.
Saturdays (locations vary):
6/13: "Couch" (the intersection of Dick Woods Road and Miller School Road)
6/20: Ivy Elementary School (we run on Decca / Ridge Road)
6/27: "Sugarhollow" (park at the gravel lot across from the Piedmont Store)
7/4: "Edge Valley" (park at the Baldwin Center)
7/11: Couch
7/18: Ivy Elementary School
7/25: Sugarhollow
8/1: We will probably meet at 7am at Mint Springs Farm. This is the property of a former WAHS runner, and they are very generous to let us run here a few times a year. If you are being dropped off, please drive slowly down the driveway and drop off in front of the house. If you are parking, please drive slowly down the driveway to the back of the house and park in the field. We will be running some on trails behind the house, and also up the road to Mint Springs Park or into Crozet. After our run, we will do some stretching / flexibility exercises and go swimming in the pool. Pick up is at 9:30. To bring:
--bathing suit, towel, water bottle, yoga mat if you have one, SOMETHING TO EAT after your run.
