Employee of the Year

Sarah Moorehead
At the beginning of 2017 Sarah was as the Agricultural Outreach Specialist. She excelled at working with cooperators, partner organizations and staff to put together workshops, promote the district and support the work of her co-workers.

In July of 2017, the executive director position was left vacant- first temporarily and then permanently. Sarah was assigned managerial duties in the temporary leave, but when the leave became long-term, Sarah stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director. As Interim Executive Director, Sarah works as the lead of the Thurston Conservation District. She is the liaison between the board of supervisors and the staff and she handles everyday staff and organizational management as well as the higher level communications between the district and the community. In one of the most difficult times in District history, Sarah has stepped forward and taken on the responsibility of managing the district without complaint, regret or further compensation. Sarah represents the district with leadership and cool composure during a time of upheaval and restructure within Thurston CD. There is no better example of an exemplary employee dedicated to the mission of districts, conservation and her own community.

Sarah values and appreciates her intelligent, passionate staff dedicated towards working together to conserve natural resources for future generations. She is grateful for the overwhelming community support and stewardship that will help pave the way for the success of Thurston Conservation District.

Congratulations Sarah on being WADE’s 2018 Employee of the Year!
