LDC Booster Club Information Letter
Our LDC Booster Club is a non-profit organization in place to support our cadets and instructor. It means we volunteer our time to help the LDC program to provide a well-rounded educational and fun experience for our kids. Through fundraising and volunteerism, we are able to rise above what the school can provide for our cadets. Booster Club parents are present at all events where we help the cadets prepare for the competitions and provide morale and logistical support. The Booster Club also helps parents; we serve as a resource if you have questions about the program, competitions or activities.
You may ask why it is important for the Booster Club to raise money. As a booster club, our goal is to support the needs of the cadets through the classroom and competitions. We sponsor Cadet Staff training events. We are involved in the CCISD-LDC annual Spring Social, which is a very special event for the cadets. We host events during the year, including the LDC Cadet Family Picnic, and awards ceremonies to honor our cadets for their achievements earned throughout the year. We support LDC activities by providing/replacing items when needed. For example, last year we spent approximately $1200 on archery equipment to build VLI LDC’s archery inventory and allow our cadets to gain more practice time. We purchased several compound bows, boxes of arrows, a target, a repair kit and a bow rack. We would love to be able to continue to help this program grow to its full potential, but can only do so with the funds raised from our membership drive, corporate donations, and our fundraising events.
The Booster Club meets no more than once a month, to discuss finance and upcoming activities where parent support may be needed. The meetings are open to all parents, but only those who have paid the annual membership dues are allowed to vote. We will continue with Spirit Night dinners that provide an easy way to grow funds and to socialize. We have also been awarded a district concession stand opening on October 11, 2019. This allows our club the opportunity to work in the concession stand during a varsity football game. We have the chance to raise a possible $900 if we have 30 volunteers. Our goal is to raise funds in as painless a way as possible and not have your student selling junk. The best way to guarantee this is 100% participation of all families during our annual membership drive.
As a non-profit organization all monetary, supply donations, and uniform donations to the club are tax deductible. If you are wondering, “How can I help?” .... Join the Booster Club! We are always looking for parents to get involved, but membership does not require your involvement. But it is a great opportunity to learn more about what we do! We welcome any ideas and suggestions to help us make this year a wonderful experience for our cadets.
