How do we perceive the world around us?

Our eyes do not act like cameras and our brain is not a computer. Despite the overwhelming amount of information that hits our retinas at any given moment, we somehow seem to make perfect sense of the world around us. The second we open our eyes we are able to identify our visual surroundings and focus on the objects and occurrences that matter to us.  Research conducted in the Visual Perception and Attention Lab focuses on visual and attentional strategies that the human visual system uses to be able to accomplish these remarkable feats. Using a combination of psychophysical, computational, eye tracking and neuro-physiological measures enable us to draw novel and insightful conclusions about human visual perception.
