The Northern Bus Station in Vientiane, Laos is located on Sithong Road about 30 minutes from the town. It is the center for all buses traveling to the north as well as the neighbouring countries of Thailand, China, and Vietnam. One has several options on getting to the bus terminal. One can take a Song Thaew from the station behind the University of Health Sciences next to the Central Bus Station on Khouvieng Road for 5,000-10,000 kip, or one can take a Tuk-Tuk for around 70,000 kip or a Taxi for around 90,000 kip from the main tourist areas. Generally, when a VIP tourist bus is purchased from the town, the price of the ticket includes a free transfer to the Northern Bus Station.
