"Who can live without magic, without a little fantasy?", suggested George Mèliés in 1933

"A trip to the moon" scene (1902)

What is the fundamental difference between humans and other animals? Both humans and animals have physical structures, which can be more or less complex to maintain life as well as to feel and express emotions. However, animal thought is based on observation and sensory perception while human thought and conscious awareness are based on language and symbols.

Humans beings, unlike other animals, have the ability to make up marvellous fantasies when we sleep and when we daydream and even to turn dreams into reality.

That human curiosity and that human daring to transgress our destiny, our reality, have led us throughout history to face new challenges, not only in the art of illusion, but also in scientific and technological development.
