Joy is 14.2-14.3 hands, one of our smaller mares. She upholds the integrity of the Morgan horse with her pedigree, endurance, movement, conformation, and intelligence. She has an excellent motor with endurance that is tough to beat and has no problem moving cows all day long even at 19 yrs old.
For me Joy earned my trust and respect while out moving cows, when one day we had a mountain lion encounter. As we moved along the side of a canyon, I and Joy rode up on a mountain lion crouched down in the rocks. I didn't see it until we were about 30 ft away from it. With little to no wiggle room for error on the side of the canyon, Joy didn't flinch a muscle and maintained her composure as the lion hopped up and took off down the canyon and out of site.
