The Scheme for establishing State Wide Area Network (SWAN) across the country was approved to connect all State/UT Headquarters up to the Block level via District/sub-Divisional Headquarters, in a vertical hierarchical structure. Each of the State/UT could enhance the bandwidth up to 100-500 Mbps between SHQ and DHQs and upto 10-100 Mbps between DHQs and BHQs depending upon the utilization
SWAN is envisaged as the converged backbone network for data, voice and video communications throughout a State/UT with the following salient features:
One PoP at each State / District / Block Headquarter
Each PoP has Configurable Aggregation Equipment to enable vertical & horizontal connectivity Gateway to NICNET (National Backbone) for Inter-State connectivity.
State/ ITDA would receive discounted price for BSNL BW cost (MoU signed).
Alternate Bandwidth is Airtel in Uttarakhand .
Connection Provide though LAN/ WAN /RF
