Psi Chi Membership
The University of St. Thomas Chapter for Psi Chi (pronounced sigh ki) is the International Honor Society in Psychology, and membership depends upon class standing and academic achievement. Membership is a lifetime honor, and our members enjoy an array of benefits.
Requirements for membership are:
Number of hours required in psychology courses:
Completion of 9 credit hours (minimum) of psychology at the UST
Completion of 36 semester hours (minimum) at the UST
(Note to transfer students: if you have transfer credits that you would like to count toward your total, please ensure that they are marked on the transcript; also, you must have completed at least 3 semester of full-time college coursework at the UST)
Registration for major or minor standing in Psychology
Minimum Overall GPA of 3.25 and Psychology GPA of 3.0. Transfer credits are not included in the GPA calculation.
Even if you do not qualify as a member now, we still encourage you to attend Psi Chi’s open events throughout the year and apply once you become eligible. The one-time lifetime membership fee will be due at that time.

If you are eligible, you will submit your application and Psi Chi will review it to confirm your eligibility. If you qualify, you will receive an email confirmation regarding the acceptance decision. Members pay the one-time International registration fee of $70 ($55 one-time payment to Psi Chi headquarters which pays for a lifetime membership + $15 one-time payment to the UST Psi Chi Chapter).
To apply:
• Fill out all parts of the application completely.
• Attach an unofficial copy of your UST transcript that includes your name.
• Drop off or send your application to:
Dr. Crystal D. Tran, Faculty Advisor of Psi-Chi, Dept. of Psychology, trandn1@stthom.edu, UST.
• Once you have been approved, you will receive an email with additional information about membership fees.
• FINAL STEP: You need to go to www.psichi.org and join. Please make sure that the information entered is accurate. After approval by the department and registration on the International Psi Chi Honor Society website, you will be officially inducted by the chapter.
• The candle-light Induction Ceremony will be held at the Link Lee Mansion with details regarding the Date/Time sent to inducted members later, UST.
Applications will be returned if they are incomplete, received after the deadline, or do not include a transcript. Once your application has been approved, the department must receive your check and you must be officially registered before you are officially inducted into the International Psi Chi Honor Society.
