You will go through the "process" of learning lessons and doing activities to help you reach your goal of creating a vodcast. The following topics will be covered:
ESPRAT+G
Economics (how people make a living), Sociology (how people live together), Political (how government works), Religion (how people have beliefs that guide them), Arts (how people express themselves), Technology (how people use devices and systems in their lives) & Geography (how the land and the climate affect lives).
The Research Process
Question> Gather> Conclude> Communicate> Evaluate. Each team member will research one to two states learning about the economy, sociology (how the people live together, what recreational activities are valued, customs, etc.), the history and the geography. You will use the provided Inspiration mind maps with the name of your region in the center, two states and four more symbols for economy, sociology, history and geography. You will use the "Note" tool to record your research. Remember to record where you get your information from.
Searching for, Saving and Resizing Images
Using specialized search engines to find images and Paint.net to edit them. You will use the images in your vodcast.
Creating Your Vodcast
Your team will use VoiceThread to insert images and record your information into a vodcast. Your team will write a script to record into Voicethread along with the images that you found. The script will come from your team reviewing each of your mind maps to find what the states of your region have in common. You are looking for distinct ways in which people make money, do certain activities, have a common history and share common geographical features in your region. These shared characteristics are what you will report upon in your vodcast. It is important for your team to work together so use the teamwork rubric to guide your collaboration.
