Giselle Ampuero is the founder and educator at Urban Schoolhouse. She has more than twenty years of experience guiding children in multi-age, multilingual, and multicultural educational environments.  She has worked with children ranging from infancy through preteen in a variety of settings such as Montessori and play-based childcare centers, private tutoring, mentoring, and in-home childcare.  She is passionate about continuing her work with children in an educational setting, and as a multilingual educator (Spanish/English/French) she enjoys supporting the children's language journey.

Giselle has completed her degree in the field of Arts & Education, has received her Early Childhood Development Certification and Primary Montessori Teacher Training Certificate, and recently completed the PITC Trainer's Certification.   As a lifelong learner, she is also trained in Non-Violence Communication (NVC), Positive Discipline, the RIE approach, and parent coaching.

Through her education and experience, she has consciously chosen to create a nurturing educational community that brings together the educational resources of a school, and the sense of family and home. Most importantly, she is committed to building rapport with each child and their family.  She embraces her community in a kind, nurturing, respectful, and culturally sensitive partnership.

She strives to stay connected with her community by leading a support group for Spanish speaking childcare providers/educators in Alameda County, and advocates for the social health of families and neighbors. For more information, please read about Urban Schoolhouse's COMMUNITY RESILIENCE PROGRAM.
