Wallace W. Robbins, a Unitarian minister who was president of the Meadville Theological School at the University of Chicago from 1944 to 1956, died of spinal cancer Friday at his home in Worcester, Mass. He was 78 years old.
Dr. Robbins served as minister of the First Unitarian Church in Worcester from 1956 until his retirement in 1975.
A native of New Bedford, Mass., he was a graduate of Tufts College, received his bachelor of divinity degree from Meadville and a doctorate in sacred theology from the Crane Theological School at Tufts.
He is survived by his wife, the former Malama Nicholas; a son, Jonathan, of North Whitefield, Me.; three daughters, Judith Faling of Needham, Mass., Sara Tringale of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Alexis Black of Birmingham, Ala., and 14 grandchildren.
