I have been investigator on a number of funded projects:
A joint project between the Open University and the University of Manchester to investigate the influence of RT as a disruptive influence on traditional broadcast narratives.
A Community-driven Curation Process for Taxonomic Databases (JISC, 2012-2013)
A project to develop a web-based networking and collaboration service, to support biodiversity researchers in curating taxonomic databases.
AgInfra: A data infrastructure to support agricultural scientific communities promoting data sharing and development of trust in agricultural sciences. (EU FP-7, Research Infrastructures, 2011-2014)
Collaborators: University of Alcala (lead institution) and 10 others.
Etoile: Enhanced Technology for Open Intelligent Learning Environments. (EU FP-7 Coordination Action, 2011-2014).
To investigate a collaborative system to support self-directed learning among distributed communities of PhD students. Collaborators: Ecole Politechnique, Paris, and Lisbon University Institute. OU lead institute
Vibrant: Supporting Biodiversity Research Communities. (EU FP-7 Research Infrastructures, 2010-2013)
OU led on applying NLP techniques to support biological taxonomists working within the scratchpads virtual research environment. Collaborators: Natural History Museum, London (lead institution) and 15 others.
ABLE: Automatic Biodiversity Literature Enhancement (JISC, 2008-2009)
Worked with the Natural History Museum, London to build and publish a collection of biodiversity documents, with species names and geographical information marked up.

Supporting Semantic Interoperability and Data Mining in Biomedicine.
CLUK: Computational Linguistics in the UK workshop (EPSRC, 2006)
