You're seen him many times the technician with the glasses, the Chevron Guy, but what is his name?
This page was first put up in during Season 4 in 2001 because there was some confusion in fandom about the name of Gary Jones's character, "Chevron Guy"
However, this has now been "Officially" resolved as from Season 8 onwards he's addressed on the show and listed in the credits as Sergeant Harriman.
The first time Harriman was used for Gary Jones character, it had came from an assumption made from miss hearing what is said to him in the season one episode There But For The Grace of God.
In that episode Daniel Jackson touches the quantum mirror and is transported into an Alternate universe. One where he never joined the SGC, where Sam is a civilian and engaged to General Jack O'Neill, Hammond is a colonel.
Colonel Hammond tells the Sergeant, "Airman, we'll need all the help we can get out there." The generic term airman became Harriman.
This is a screen cap from the region 2 DVD with the subtitles on to show the dialogue.
Airman, we'll need all the help we can get out there.
In the season 4 episode 2010 his name is supposedly established as Walter Davis, Jack calls him Walter and the official ShowTime website (now closed) listed under the cast and crew in the mission guide Sergeant Walter Davis: Gary Jones.
But...he was also been seen with the name tag Norman Davis
On the Season 6 Episode Descent DVD Audio commentary Gary mentions all his names, but even he doesn't know what he's called, he is always credited as Technician!
Season's 8 fourth episode, Zero Hour, confirmed that Jack calls him Walter. The newly promoted Brigadier General O'Neill calls him that several times during the episode.
The credits for that episode....
GARY JONES ...... Sgt. Walter Harriman (Technician )
