The car drove off leaving Daniel in the pouring rain.
The rain that was soaking into his bags, covering his glasses, permeating his jacket, creeping into his shoes and dampening the papers he held.
A translation job, to prove his theories, the same woman that humiliated him in a room of academics wanted to offer him a job.
He looked around at the people scurrying past, umbrellas up, heads down; everyone seemed to have a destination, a purpose to their lives. What did he have to lose? He picked up his bags and started to walk towards his new future.
Season 2 Missing Scene Drabble
Jack's thoughts towards the end of The Serpent's Lair
Rating PG.
"We saved it sir."
"Yes, we did."
Not the end of the world, though it's the end for SG-1.
Daniel's already dead; sacrificing himself so, we could save them. It was worth it; although only a few people will ever know what we did, billions will carry on their daily lives unaware of the threat from Apophis.
I feel at peace, watching the clouds move across the planet's atmosphere, something I thought I would never see, never been the right stuff for NASA, never had a hope of getting here in a shuttle. Today is a good day to die.

Jonas Quinn looked down through the glass at the sleeping man. He couldn't help remembering the last time he stood there looking at the dying Daniel.
Once again, he had survived and a member of SG-1 was dying, would he get the blame? Just when he had found redemption for the events surrounding Daniel's death, become part of the team, and formed a good friendship with Teal'c.
He lifted his hands and placed the index finger of his right hand across the left hand one, "Fingers Crossed" he whispered hoping that some way they would find a cure for Jack.

Notes: I've been a Bon Jovi fan for a long time, so I had to do this challenge! Dedicated to the friend who is always there for me Mac :-)
I thought the locker room was empty, but Major Carter was siting on the bench, her stillness in the darkness concerning me.
Her first words attempted to make me leave, push me away, stay strong but I knew she was distressed because of O'Neill's absence.
I sat and comforted her, my instincts were correct; she was frightened, afraid of losing someone else.
I understood that loss, my father, my wife, my friends... I still feared for my son.
Yet, through all that I had gained much, the friendship and companionship of this Tauri woman, which made it worth the fight.
I'm gonna hold you 'til your hurt is gone
Be the shoulder that you're leaning on I'll be standing here
For the next 100 years If it all should end tonight
I'll know it was worth the fight
And we'll be standing here
For the next 100 years

"Carter, you know computers confuse me."
Despite her patient explanations, Jack was still stumped, "OK, I'm on my way."
Sighing, Sam tidied her tools, irritated that her relaxing motorcycle maintenance evening had to be abandoned.
As Jack opened his door, her ears were assailed with the sound of many voices from his living room. "Surprise!"
Daniel kissed her on the cheek, "Happy Birthday!"
Sam tried to glare at Jack but it was hard to be cross with his warm smile. She accepted the beer he offered her, silently toasted him and drank.
She smiled; they hadn't forgotten her after all.
