The only lights in Sam's living room were the chasing fairy lights on the Christmas tree.
Outside the snow was falling again, soft white clumps sticking to the windowpane for a second before the heat from the house turned them into rivets of water.
Neat piles of gifts, all labelled sat waiting for the recipients under the tree. Control was easy with inanimate objects, if only people were so predictable.
"Happy Christmas" he said passing her a glass.
She smiled; It would be now he was here to hold her.
" To us" she toasted.
Her answer was a kiss.

Sam's instincts had let her down before, she never doubted Jonas till it was too late, didn't see the first signs of the madness that eventually killed him.
With Martouf she was confused, was the love she felt for him hers or simply a memory? That bewilderment also clouded her feelings toward Narim.
She doubted Orlin from the start, couldn't believe his instant feelings for her.
This time there was no doubt.
The soft brown eyes looking into her own were full of love, she felt safe and secure in his arms, loving and loved by Jack, she was home.

They had found her and the weapon had worked. Jack confirmed the kill so she knew the fight was over. Sam was exhausted; finally she could rest, she leaned against Jack's comforting shoulder. Soon she would have to make the journey back to the Stargate but all she wanted to do was stay in Jack's arms
"Hang on to me," she whispered.
"Always," he replied.
It took a huge effort but she looked up into his eyes, seeing the true depth of his unspoken feelings, more than words would ever convey, content her eyes closed, yes she was safe now.

On the sandy beach in front of the abandoned Goa'uld pleasure palace a couple stood watching, hand in hand, their bare feet covered by the gentle waves lapping at the shore.
Retired General Jack O'Neill turned to his blonde companion. "When we were stuck here I always thought it would be a good spot for a vacation."
A ray of light from the dying sun caught the gold band on the woman's left hand, "a honeymoon, " Sam corrected him gently. He smiled and kissed her.

Valentine's day bemused Teyla; Her people didn't need a special day to express their feelings.
Earlier she'd found a card under the door of her quarters. Not signed, only a simple message, a dinner invitation. Why didn't he ask her directly? Was that the Earth way? Who sent it? There was only one person she wanted it to be.
The knock at the door interrupted her thoughts; it was John Sheppard, smiling.
As their eyes met a new understanding passed between them, she knew he'd sent the card, knew he felt the same.
"Yes," she replied to his unspoken question.

I don't think anyone else has noticed but I can see it. The way their eyes meet and hold for a second longer than necessary. A lingering touch when they pass things to each other. The extra smile they exchange when they think no one is looking.
I remember when she smiled like that at me, but she stopped soon after she broke up with Pete. Because I didn't smile back, I didn't act on that signal.
Now it's too late, I could ignore Pete he wasn't one of us, but Cam is and now he's the one not me.
