'Uffculme Library Friends’ is a small charity set up to promote the use of the library, and the wider aim of promoting literacy, learning and literature in Uffculme and surrounding villages. We are one of a number of Friends Groups set up to support libraries across Devon.
The purposes of the Uffculme Library Friends charity are:
To promote the library service in Uffculme and surrounding villages, and encourage public awareness and use of library facilities and services;
To support specific activities in the Uffculme Library, or to promote the Library;
To raise funds, donations, grants or sponsorship for library activities;
To represent users by providing feedback to Libraries Unlimited, on behalf of Devon County Council, on services, opening hours, stock, library presentation, and other library matters;
To encourage and organise volunteer support for specific purposes, in liaison with Libraries Unlimited, on behalf of Devon County Council, when appropriate for Charity activities and library events;
To co-ordinate a community response to Libraries Unlimited, on behalf of Devon County Council, service developments and changes;
To encourage literacy, learning and literature in Uffculme and surrounding villages.
