BCLA

About BCLA

The BC Library Association respectfully acknowledges that our work takes place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Our members are honoured to serve the many diverse Indigenous Nations and communities throughout what is now known as British Columbia.

Our Vision

The British Columbia Library Association leads the library community in advocacy, professional development, and support of intellectual freedom. We ensure that all British Columbians have equitable access to information, ideas, and works of the imagination.

Our Mission

Advancing Libraries together.

How can I get involved?

Membership

Students and new graduates can join BCLA for free! Once you're a member, you can sign up for listservs and join sections, committees, and/or interest groups.

Mentorship Program

Join the mentorship program to get to know and learn from experienced librarians in BC! The program is a great way to grow professionally, ask questions, and hear more about working in libraries.

Volunteer

BCLA YAACS has some volunteer opportunities, such as volunteering for the annual Youth Services Institute (YSI) or BCLA Conference. Contact the UBC YAACS Co-chairs for updates!
