• Benin (Peace Corps Rural Community Development Volunteer in N'Dali, 1995-97)

  • Funded a goat-raising cooperative and a girls vocational training center; organized a microcredit program; organized a training of trainers for mothers of young children; implemented AIDS/HIV awareness programs; organized creative writing contest at local schools

• Israel (Kibbutz Bet HaEmek 1990, Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu 1997-98)

  • Sorted lychees, bagged banana trees, assembled boxes for Biological Industries (BI) serum bottles, worked in greenhouses for BioBee Biological Systems (a biologically-based pest management company)
