Reducing PDFs - a cheat sheet by Laura Diment

People often have to transfer their dissertation to a university library and have trouble with the file size. Many thanks to Laura Diment from the University of South Hampton who says:

" One technical issue I had at submission was saving my enormous Word document as a PDF. When I saved it, the file size was huge and the image quality was terrible. I therefore collated other people’s solutions for how to save Word files with high quality images, and then to use Adobe Acrobat to reduce the file size without reducing the image quality. The document was made for my own future reference, but I thought it might also be useful for other PhD students."
