Germany trip 2006

I was very fortunate to have the opportunity of attending a symposium on hybrid technology on military tracked vehicles in Germany. What a great learning experience, sharing information with other engineering managers, talking about efficiencies, powertrains, Powerpoint presentations, watching power curves generate from dyno tests. Oh, of course, there was the time spent hanging out with Vicky, biergartens, Munich, the Deutchland life. CLICK on the PICs.

The Symposium

I'm sweating bullets while listening to radical lectures on hybrid technology. In a sea of managers, VPs, Generals, I'm the bottom feeder mech engr.

Another view of the Symposium. The building is nice, and hospitality is very warm (as is the building), and the information presented was useful.

The night of the symposium, all the engineers had a "midieval-styled" dinner, replete with wooden benches, tables, and daggers used as utensils.

CHEERS!, as I down my eighth or ninth cup of honey beer, with general manager on the right and VP on the left.

The Trip with Vicky

BLING BLING, an Audi A3 2.0TDi 6-speed manual sits pretty while we load her up for our transportation. She did 120mph on the Bahn. She got 47MPG at 80mph. The States definitely need more diesels.

After the symposium, we head south on B17 towards the Alps and to Neuschwanstein Schloss, the castle used to model the Magic Kingdom at Disneyland. Nice photography skills Vic.

Germany had just defeated Argentina, so everybody in Augsburg was celebrating. This guy sat at our table at the cafe that we were watching the game, and we bumped into him and his friends afterwards. We told him of our origins and told him to take a picture with us. a bit close to her, don't you think?

Time to finally experience the biergarten, or "beer garden." What a great place to chill and converse, with tons of seating, great ambiance, warm evening weather, and a sun that never sets. This picture was taken at 930pm. A majestic "clang" to the liter-mug and we drink.

If you drink, designate a driver. We take the U-Bahn. Very convenient, just like Hong Kong's MTR, unlike BART. You are so cute Vicky!

Behind us stands Marienplatz, the center of Munich. Vicky balanced the camera on some telephone kiosk to take this picture.

We take a break by stopping at the Nuernberger Bratwurst Gloeckl am Dom, right next to the Frauenkirsche. mmmm, beer and hearty German food.

Hey darling, what's with the "yucky" face??? well, drink the beer to wash it away!
