The VINCY cyclotron that is being built in Belgrade is going to be controlled by the system of distributed computers. By studying commercially available control systems as well as those applied to already existing cyclotrons worldwide, we have decided to use widely spread and less expensive PC compatible computersat all levels. The system is supposed to provide monitoring and control of about 1000 analog and digital signals. All the computers (process and console ones) are going to be connected into local Rthernet network with the Novell file server. For the development of the control applications software packages for virtual instrumentation are going to be used.
