I am originally from eastern Tennessee. After completing my PhD at the University of North Dakota in the Experimental Psychology program, I accepted a position at Valley City State University. You can read about my research interests and teaching at the links above.
Off-campus, I can talk for about an hour about all the podcasts I like to listen to and why you should have been listening to them a year ago. Currently my favorites are This American Life, Planet Money, and Reply-All. If I'm walking, driving, at the gym, or almost anywhere I'll be listening to podcasts.
There are some amazing podcasts in psychology right now! You should definitely check out NPR's Invisibilia and Dr. David Pizarro's Very Bad Wizards that he co-hosts with a philosopher.
Of course, I also listen to podcasts for fun. Currently I'm listening to anything by Gimlet media, a lot of NPR productions, The Dork Forest, Spontaneation, Thrilling Adventure Hour! (my favorite show is Beyond Belief), and obviously Radiolab.
I also play board games and video games. Here's a picture of me playing board games at a local meetup. Some members of the psych department will play games with us regularly.
