On the travels of Claudia and John on their yacht Rafiki

We bought Rafiki, a Beneteau 473 in 2001 and placed her in charter in the British Virgin Islands under the management of TMM. Since that time we have had some wonderful times exploring islands in the northern Caribbean although we have been limited in scope to what we could do in a couple of weeks annual holiday. In July 2008 we retired Rafiki from her charter work and started fitting her out for long-distance cruising. By October 2008 we had both also retired in our careers as research scientists and started preparations for a winter cruise on Rafiki. This site documents our fitting out and sailing experiences.
