Kalyani is a small town located in the Nadia district of the state of West Bengal in India. This town falls under the Bongaon constituency. This is also the border town of the district of Nadia sharing its border with the district of 24 Parganas (North). The town came into prominence during the Second World War but gained the momentum of development in independent India from 1960s onwards. The town has transformed over the span of its existence and at present it can be easily counted among the developed towns of not only West Bengal but also India. The town has also received the award of the “Cleanest Town of India” in the early 2000s. Recently, it has also gained the status of a “Smart City” and an “Educational Hub”. The town is slowly moving towards cosmopolitanism embracing people from all over into it due to presence of number of educational institutions and medical facilities.
The project tries to highlight the changes and transformations the town has gone through especially focussing on the domains of education, health, transport, sports along with a special segment on Central Park. In this project I have used images, digital tools and audio video media to capture progress of the town. The digital tool which I have used is timeline by which I have tried to represent the major transformations of the town leading to its progress and development.
