Horse Sense for Practical Christians

W.C. Fields once said: “Horse sense is the thing a horse has which keeps it from betting on people.”

Benefits of Equine Assisted Learning Include:

  • A somatic, tactile understanding beyond intellectual awareness.

  • An opportunity to identify patterns and re-examine their usefulness.

  • A non-threatening environment to try new behaviors and receive instant feedback.

We hope to accomplish over the next four weeks:

  • Examine four interesting Scripture passages and explore them using some “horse sense.” (Psalms 46:10, John 5:1-8, John 1:29, John 20:21)

  • Learn how to practice “still point” as a way to listen for God’s still small voice in our lives.

  • Utilize CARES skills as a way to improve communication with others.

  • Awaken our “inner horse” and practice what we have learned in class in our daily lives.

"Horses and Methodist Clergy: Rediscovering our DNA"

“Now that horses are no longer obliged to work in our fields and carry us to war, they’re doing something more important: they’re working on us, helping us reclaim, daily, a hint of paradise not so much lost as misplaced.” Linda Kohanov, The Power of The Herd, (2013)
