Established April 2005, by the Town of Montgomery, the Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) is an advisory unit of municipal government. The CAC provides pertinent environmental information to aid in the decision making process of the governing body. The CAC is a member of the NY Association of Conservation Commissions(NYSACC).

The TOM CAC has facilitated opportunities for residents to learn about the local environment and sustainability, and to volunteer to improve the quality of life and our environment in our community.

Critical Environmental Areas - The Town of Montgomery Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) received a grant from the Hudson River Estuary Program and Hudsonia, Ltd. to work on a proposal to create a Critical Environmental Area in the Town based on information and recommendations in the updated Natural Resources Inventory of 2020 and the Town Comprehensive Plan of 2021. This proposal was provided to the Town Board but has not yet been enacted.
